EuroPack Summit 2022

Pro Carton is proud to be an official media partner at this year’s EuroPack Summit, taking place in Montreux, Switzerland on 5-6 September 2022.

Last year’s event saw the likes of senior representatives from Nestlé, Mars Wrigley, Ferrero, PepsiCo, Migros and Aldi. The 2022 event will see many leading packaging executives and innovative suppliers come together to discuss the key packaging challenges and trends that 2022 has presented.

We see this convention as a great opportunity for networking among industry peers and to represent cartonboard next to other packaging alternatives.

This is the first year Pro Carton has participated at the EuroPack Summit. We will make decisions on extending the collaboration for next year after September 6th 2022.

Registration for the event is still open. Please find more information here.

ECMA Congress 2022

Marking the largest gathering from the European folding carton and cartonboard industry, the ECMA Congress will return, this year taking place in Krakow, Poland, from 15-16 September 2022.

This year’s theme will be ‘Sustainability Unboxed’ featuring a line-up of speakers including Carrefour, Euromonitor, CEPI, BPO Packaging Strategy & Innovation, EXPRA, Moorgate Capital and Suez Circpack.

The Congress will be a celebration of cartonboard and folding cartons and will give all members the chance to reconnect with industry friends and colleagues for the first time in three years.

Notably, on Thursday 15th September, there will be an entire evening dedicated to celebrating the winners of the European Carton Excellence Awards, the Pro Carton Young Designers Award and the Pro Carton Student Video Award. The ECEA recognise the creative work and industry expertise of cartonboard manufacturers and converters.  We will also prepare the stage for students and teachers of different Universities across Europe who came up with creative solutions of packaging designs and short films. Join us in celebrating the winners of the Pro Carton Student Video Awards and the Pro Carton Young Designers Awards.

We’re very excited to be in Krakow to network with industry leaders and to celebrate our industry’s achievements and the award winners!

Registration is still open for the Congress. Please click here for more information.

We also have the public vote for the PCYDA and the PCSVA still open. Take the opportunity and value the great work done by the next generation of young designers and video artists. Cast your vote here for PCYDA and here for PCSVA.

And watch out for the winners to be announced on 15th September.

Fachpack 2022

For the first time in three years, Pro Carton will be exhibiting together with FFI at Fachpack from 27-29 September in Nuremberg.  The theme of the joint stand is “Carton – True Sustainability”.  On the stand, we will be showcasing the winners of the European Carton Excellence Award (ECEA), Pro Carton Young Designers Award (PCYDA) and Pro Carton Student Video Award (PCSVA).

We invite you to attend the Fachpack PACKBOX Forum session with us on Wednesday 28th September from 3-4pm – “Cartons – leading in Circularity and Design”. As part of the PackBox theme “Transition in Packaging”, two top-class speakers will present the latest findings on the recycling of folding cartons:

Ralf Mack, Co-Head of the Alliance 4evergreen Expert Group “Circularity by Design” and Director of New Business Development Consumer Products at Graphic Packaging International, will take a closer look at the results of the Alliance’s work.

DI Dr. Rene Eckhart, Senior Scientist at Graz University of Technology, Institute for Biobased Products and Paper Technology will explain how often recovered cartonboard fibres can be recycled in order to remain suitable for cartonboard production, based on the results of a laboratory study conducted in 2021. In the study, folding board was recycled several times to determine what effects can be expected on the mechanical properties of the material, including its strength and resistance to pressure. The result dispels old myths: the fibres can easily be recycled over 25 times. The number of recycling cycles is mainly limited by the wastepaper collection rate and losses that occur when cleaning the fibre material. Further proof that folding cartons are a well-practiced example of living circularity.

“Sustainability in Action” is reflected in the concept of the joint FFI / Pro Carton trade fair stand, where the use of plastic is avoided as far as possible and the CO2 consumption is compensated by additional climate protection projects, so that our trade fair stand is climate neutral.

We look forward to seeing you at Fachpack in Hall 9, Stand 9-345.
