Positioning Paper of the Paper, Board and Corrugated Board Value Chain on: “Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation” (PPWR)

Austropapier, PROPAK, Forum Wellpappe Austria, ProCarton and the entire value chain have made a major contribution to making domestic products. made of paper/cardboard/corrugated board, the European leader in the circular economy.

Packaging made of paper, cardboard and corrugated board has the highest return rate of all materials in Austria at around 85 percent.  In 2021, 1.8 million tons of paper will be collected in Austria as raw material for new products.  Significantly more, namely 2.5 million tons, were recycled for the production of new paper, corrugated board and cardboard products in domestic plants.  This shows that an even higher collection rate would be easily possible in Austria.
