We are proud to share the report from the Pro Carton Carbon Footprint of Carton Packaging 2023 study, carried out by RISE Research Institutes of Sweden. It is great to see that our efforts and investments, to reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to the industry’s environmental performance, deliver the right results.

Today, this report demonstrates just how far the industry has come. It highlights how by working together, our industry is playing a leading role in packaging circularity. Key findings of the report include:

  • The industry has reduced its carbon footprint by 24% since 2018.
  • The industry average carbon footprint of cartons is now at 249 kgCO2e cradle-to-grave per tonne of cartons.
  • The cradle-to-gate carbon footprint is now just 148 kgCO2e cradle-to-gate per tonne of cartons.

These results are proof of the fibre-based packaging industry’s commitment to leading the packaging industry towards a circular economy.
