“Fit for 55”

The European Commission published the “Fit for 55” legislative package on 14 July and the EU Forest Strategy on 16 July.

EU draft – Placing on the market

The European Commission has published a draft document containing explanations concerning the concept of “placing on the market” following a Commission meeting that was held in June.

Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) Issues

Pro Carton, FEFCO and Eurosac, through the auspices of CITPA, commissioned RISE to evaluate the PEFCR.  The aim of the work was to identify and report on challenges presented when applying the PEFCR, and to make recommendations for improving (or clarifying) the PEFCR in the future.

Pro Carton have supported a letter to the EU Commission voicing their concerns regarding the timing and resources allocated to the review of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive.

Harmonised marking requirements definitions

Pro Carton have supported a letter to the EU Commission prepared by 360° Foodservice following the joint industry statement on the implementation of the harmonised marking requirements to uniformly and correctly, interpret the definition of “placing on the market”.

Stakeholder report on PPWD

On behalf of the EU Commission, Eunomia have published the report from their stakeholder workshop on “The assessment of options for reinforcing the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive’s essential requirements and other measures to reduce the generation of packaging waste”.
