In Europe about 7 million tonnes of cartonboard is produced and the majority of this is then converted into cartons but some is also used for graphical purposes such as book covers, post cards, calendars, brochures and many other uses. The majority of the cartonboard is used inside Europe though there are sales to all other parts of the world most notably the Far East, North America, Africa and the Middle East. Cartons are manufactured across Europe by over 1000 manufacturers and are made for a huge variety of uses such as dry food, pharmaceuticals, tobacco, cosmetics, tissues, chilled and frozen food, confectionery, soft and alcoholic drinks and many, many more.
