Student design competition open for entries: Pro Carton Young Designers Award 2021

The Pro Carton Young Designers Award has established itself as the most successful European student award for packaging design. Despite the ongoing crisis we had over 550 entries from all over Europe - and the next round starts now!  Submissions for the 2021 Pro Carton Young Designers Award are now open and run right through until mid-May 2021. Teachers can plan the award into the curriculum for this academic year. We are happy to provide high-quality cartonboard sheets from MM Board & Paper and Metsä Board to any university that decides to work on a #pcyda21 entry, as well as our in-house publications on cartons and cartonboard. We want to provide a real hands-on learning experience for the students! Please use the respective order form on the Pro Carton Website. Entries can be submitted across four categories:
  • Creative Cartonboard Packaging: Eat & Drink: The focus lies on cartonboard as the most sustainable food and beverage packaging material and its recyclability. Give us a taste of great design!
  • Creative Cartonboard Packaging: All Other: This category focusses on using the most sustainable packaging material for non-food packaging. Everything needs packaging, have a look around yourself and get inspired!
  • Creative Cartonboard Ideas: Think outside the box! Here’s a chance for you to put forward your cartonboard ideas outside of the packaging market.
  • Save the Planet: Every minute a truckload of plastics is dumped in the ocean. Show us your ideas as to how cartonboard can replace plastic and help us save the planet!
In addition to the four categories, a Newcomer Award will also be made to a student from a university that hasn’t won an award in the past. Detailed information and rules are on the Pro Carton website. The five winners will be invited with their teachers to the Awards Gala Dinner which is due to take place in September next year. The winners will also get a unique opportunity for a behind-the-scenes visit to an international cartonboard mill plus practical training at a carton converter. All expenses paid, of course! Be part of the Award!  For inspiration take a look at the winners, finalists and shortlist from former years and check out our videos to get an impression of the Award Gala. We are looking forward to receiving your on-line entries!
