Les mod\u00e8les climatiques qui \u00e9tudient la mani\u00e8re dont nous pouvons encore limiter le r\u00e9chauffement de la plan\u00e8te s'appuient en partie sur des solutions technologiques et naturelles pour \u00e9liminer le CO2<\/sub> de l'atmosph\u00e8re terrestre, et ces \"absorptions de carbone\" pourraient \u00e9galement contribuer \u00e0 remplacer les mat\u00e9riaux d'origine fossile et \u00e0 \u00e9liminer les \u00e9missions qui en d\u00e9coulent. Ces solutions ont \u00e9t\u00e9 reconnues par l'UE comme un moyen d'atteindre ses objectifs climatiques, avec le soutien du secteur de la p\u00e2te \u00e0 papier et du papier. Le vote d'aujourd'hui du Parlement europ\u00e9en sur la certification des absorptions de carbone, qui \u00e9tablit une distinction claire entre le carbone biog\u00e9nique et le carbone fossile, est un pas en avant vers la concr\u00e9tisation de ces solutions.<\/em><\/p>\n

Le Cepi se f\u00e9licite de l'adoption aujourd'hui par le Parlement europ\u00e9en du rapport Pereira sur la certification des absorptions de carbone, dans lequel Les membres du Parlement europ\u00e9en ont approuv\u00e9 la possibilit\u00e9 de prendre en compte tous les r\u00e9servoirs de carbone biog\u00e9nique, y compris les produits du bois r\u00e9colt\u00e9s, dans la certification des absorptions de carbone.<\/strong> La possibilit\u00e9 de certifier les produits du bois r\u00e9colt\u00e9s est un alignement n\u00e9cessaire sur le r\u00e8glement UTCATF de l'UE, qui traite de l'utilisation des terres et constitue un \u00e9l\u00e9ment cl\u00e9 de la r\u00e9glementation europ\u00e9enne sur le climat, le \"Green Deal\" de l'UE.<\/p>\n

Le secteur de la p\u00e2te \u00e0 papier et du papier promeut une gestion active des for\u00eats europ\u00e9ennes, adapt\u00e9e aux conditions locales et garantissant leur r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9ration et une croissance accrue, au cours de laquelle le carbone est absorb\u00e9 par les arbres. Il s'appuie sur un mod\u00e8le compatible avec la fourniture de produits \u00e0 base de bois de mani\u00e8re durable, tout en tenant compte de la biodiversit\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Les entreprises europ\u00e9ennes de p\u00e2te \u00e0 papier et de papier proposent d\u00e9j\u00e0 des alternatives renouvelables, neutres en carbone et recyclables aux mat\u00e9riaux d'origine fossile et investissent de plus en plus dans de nouveaux produits d'origine biologique. Elles investissent de plus en plus dans de nouveaux produits biosourc\u00e9s, notamment gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 139 bioraffineries r\u00e9parties dans toute l'Europe, qui remplacent d\u00e9j\u00e0 de grandes quantit\u00e9s de mat\u00e9riaux d'origine fossile. D'un point de vue r\u00e9glementaire, l'expansion de ce mod\u00e8le n\u00e9cessite une diff\u00e9renciation claire entre les absorptions de carbone biog\u00e9nique et fossile certifiables, d\u00e9sormais consacr\u00e9e par le Parlement europ\u00e9en<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Le Parlement europ\u00e9en a \u00e9galement veill\u00e9 \u00e0 ce que le cadre de certification s'aligne sur d'autres l\u00e9gislations pertinentes. Les crit\u00e8res d\u00e9finissant la durabilit\u00e9 de la biomasse solide, d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9tablis depuis la r\u00e9vision de la directive sur les \u00e9nergies renouvelables (RED II), ont \u00e9t\u00e9 conserv\u00e9s. Cela facilitera la mise en conformit\u00e9 et le processus de certification.<\/p>\n

Le rapport de la d\u00e9put\u00e9e Pereira souligne la priorit\u00e9 des r\u00e9ductions d'\u00e9missions sur les absorptions, un avis partag\u00e9 par l'industrie de la p\u00e2te \u00e0 papier et du papier ainsi que par une majorit\u00e9 d'ONG de l'UE. Tous les secteurs de l'\u00e9conomie doivent jouer leur r\u00f4le dans la r\u00e9duction des \u00e9missions de carbone, plut\u00f4t que de compter sur les \"compensations carbone\" provenant des for\u00eats.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Les \u00e9missions n\u00e9gatives peuvent en fait \u00eatre obtenues de bien d'autres mani\u00e8res, par exemple en combinant la production de bio\u00e9nergie avec le captage, l'utilisation et le stockage du carbone (BECCUS), o\u00f9 l'industrie de la p\u00e2te \u00e0 papier et du papier pourrait \u00e9galement jouer un r\u00f4le. Mais un cadre r\u00e9glementaire plus d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 en la mati\u00e8re est encore n\u00e9cessaire afin d'encourager le d\u00e9ploiement de ces nouvelles technologies.<\/p>\n
