Estas soluciones han sido reconocidas por la UE como una forma de alcanzar sus objetivos clim\u00e1ticos, con el apoyo del sector de la pasta y el papel. La votaci\u00f3n de hoy del Parlamento Europeo sobre la certificaci\u00f3n de la eliminaci\u00f3n del carbono, diferenciando claramente entre el carbono biog\u00e9nico y el f\u00f3sil, es un paso adelante para que esto se haga realidad.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Cepi se congratula de que el Parlamento Europeo haya aprobado hoy el informe Pereira sobre la certificaci\u00f3n de las absorciones de carbono, en el que <strong>Los diputados al Parlamento Europeo (PE) respaldaron la posibilidad de tener en cuenta todos los reservorios de carbono biog\u00e9nico, incluidos los productos de madera recolectada, en la certificaci\u00f3n de las absorciones de carbono.<\/strong> La posibilidad de certificar los productos de madera recolectada es una adaptaci\u00f3n necesaria a la normativa LULUCF de la UE, que se ocupa del uso del suelo y es un elemento clave del paquete normativo europeo sobre el clima, el Pacto Verde de la UE.<\/p>\n<p>El sector de la pasta y el papel promueve una gesti\u00f3n activa de los bosques europeos, que se adapte a las condiciones locales y garantice su regeneraci\u00f3n y un mayor crecimiento, durante el cual el carbono es absorbido por los \u00e1rboles. Se basa en un modelo compatible con el suministro de productos derivados de la madera de manera sostenible, teniendo en cuenta al mismo tiempo la biodiversidad.<\/p>\n<p>Las empresas europeas de pasta y papel ya ofrecen alternativas renovables, neutras en carbono y reciclables a los materiales f\u00f3siles y est\u00e1n invirtiendo cada vez m\u00e1s en nuevos productos de base biol\u00f3gica. En particular, gracias a 139 biorrefiner\u00edas repartidas por toda Europa, que ya est\u00e1n desplazando grandes cantidades de materiales de origen f\u00f3sil. Desde el punto de vista normativo, la expansi\u00f3n de este modelo requiere <strong>una clara diferenciaci\u00f3n entre las absorciones de carbono biog\u00e9nico y f\u00f3sil certificables, ahora consagrada por el Parlamento de la UE<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>El Parlamento Europeo tambi\u00e9n ha garantizado que el marco de certificaci\u00f3n se ajuste a otra legislaci\u00f3n pertinente. Se han mantenido los criterios que definen la sostenibilidad de la biomasa s\u00f3lida, ya establecidos desde la revisi\u00f3n de la Directiva sobre energ\u00edas renovables - RED II. Esto facilitar\u00e1 el cumplimiento y simplificar\u00e1 enormemente el proceso de certificaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>El informe del eurodiputado Pereira hace hincapi\u00e9 en la prioridad de la reducci\u00f3n de emisiones sobre la eliminaci\u00f3n, una opini\u00f3n compartida por la industria de la pasta y el papel, as\u00ed como por la mayor\u00eda de las ONG de la UE. <strong>Todos los sectores econ\u00f3micos deben desempe\u00f1ar su papel en la reducci\u00f3n de sus emisiones de carbono, en lugar de depender de las \"compensaciones de carbono\" procedentes de los bosques.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>De hecho, las emisiones negativas pueden conseguirse de muchas otras maneras, por ejemplo combinando la producci\u00f3n de bioenerg\u00eda con la captura, uso y almacenamiento de carbono (BECCUS), donde la industria de la pasta y el papel tambi\u00e9n podr\u00eda desempe\u00f1ar un papel. Pero sigue siendo necesario un marco normativo m\u00e1s desarrollado en la materia para incentivar el despliegue de estas nuevas tecnolog\u00edas.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; color: #393939; background: white;\">Jori Ringman, Director General - Cepi (Confederaci\u00f3n de Industrias Papeleras Europeas):<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\"Ahora es esencial entablar negociaciones r\u00e1pidas con el Consejo para apoyar el desarrollo de metodolog\u00edas espec\u00edficas de certificaci\u00f3n del carbono y poner en marcha la certificaci\u00f3n de las emisiones de carbono. Sin embargo, la primera prioridad sigue siendo reducir y evitar las emisiones, ya que las absorciones de carbono deber\u00edan ser la segunda prioridad.
