Pro Carton ha realizado recientemente un estudio que no s\u00f3lo compara los datos publicados de la huella de carbono por tonelada de material, sino que tambi\u00e9n examina la huella de carbono por unidad.  Se han comparado cuatro productos, uno en un envase predominantemente de pl\u00e1stico y otro en cart\u00f3n en tres productos alimentarios y uno no alimentario.  Los resultados son muy favorables para los envases de cart\u00f3n, incluso si s\u00f3lo se comparan las respectivas emisiones de gases f\u00f3siles de efecto invernadero.
