En el futuro, podr\u00e1n sustituir a los pl\u00e1sticos, por ejemplo, en los envases, los productos de higiene, los materiales de construcci\u00f3n y los textiles. El proyecto Piloting Alternatives for Plastics re\u00fane a un amplio abanico de empresas finlandesas e internacionales para llevar los materiales desarrollados en los laboratorios hacia una mayor producci\u00f3n industrial. El proyecto est\u00e1 financiado por el Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional, VTT y empresas.<\/p>\n<p>El pl\u00e1stico es un material excelente con muchas propiedades \u00fanicas en, por ejemplo, aplicaciones de envasado. Se calcula que el consumo de pl\u00e1stico se duplicar\u00e1 en los pr\u00f3ximos 20 a\u00f1os. El mayor reto de los productos de pl\u00e1stico es su reciclabilidad. Por ejemplo, solo 14% de los envases de pl\u00e1stico se reciclan, por lo que la mayor parte del pl\u00e1stico acaba inciner\u00e1ndose o en los vertederos y, por desgracia, tambi\u00e9n se elimina de forma inadecuada en los bosques y los oc\u00e9anos (Ellen MacArthur Foundation, 2017).<\/p>\n<p>En un proyecto piloto de tres a\u00f1os, VTT est\u00e1 trabajando con empresas para llevar la fabricaci\u00f3n de productos de fibra de nueva generaci\u00f3n hacia la escala de producci\u00f3n industrial. Los proyectos piloto se est\u00e1n llevando a cabo en VTT, en Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, con acceso, entre otras cosas, al primer entorno de investigaci\u00f3n del mundo que utiliza el proceso de formaci\u00f3n de espuma. Los objetivos de los proyectos piloto seleccionados incluyen materiales basados en fibras para sustituir a los pl\u00e1sticos utilizados, por ejemplo, en envases alimentarios, filtros, textiles y materiales de limpieza, higiene y construcci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>\"En este proyecto, estamos creando una nueva comprensi\u00f3n de las redes de fibras de base biol\u00f3gica y de c\u00f3mo, adapt\u00e1ndolas, podemos producir nuevos tipos de materiales reciclables que no supongan una carga para el medio ambiente\", afirma el vicepresidente Jani Lehto, de VTT.<\/p>\n<p>Desde el laboratorio, pasando por el pilotaje, hasta la fase de desarrollo del producto<br \/>\nEn la investigaci\u00f3n de nuevos materiales, el reto consiste en seleccionar los m\u00e1s interesantes entre una amplia gama de materias primas y opciones de fabricaci\u00f3n, y en reducir el tiempo que se tarda en trasladar los resultados obtenidos a escala de laboratorio a la escala de producci\u00f3n comercial. El trabajo de desarrollo realizado en el proyecto dar\u00e1 lugar a conocimientos sobre diversas materias primas, equipos y tecnolog\u00edas de fabricaci\u00f3n. A partir del trabajo de desarrollo, las empresas pueden pasar a la fase de desarrollo de productos para diferentes soluciones en proyectos impulsados por la empresa.<\/p>\n<p>El proyecto Piloting Alternatives for Plastics comenz\u00f3 el 1 de abril de 2020 y finaliza el 31 de marzo de 2023. Su presupuesto total es de 6,7 millones de euros. El proyecto se ejecuta con financiaci\u00f3n del Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER), VTT y empresas coordinadas por el Consejo Regional de Finlandia Central.<\/p>\n<p>En el proyecto participan 52 empresas de Finlandia y de otros pa\u00edses europeos.
