Me horroriz\u00f3 leer un reciente estudio alem\u00e1n en el que se informaba de que se hab\u00eda encontrado contaminaci\u00f3n por micropl\u00e1sticos en las 24 marcas de cerveza analizadas, as\u00ed como en la miel y el az\u00facar. Esto se debe a las leyes de pureza alemanas (Reinheitsgebot), que establecen que la cerveza s\u00f3lo puede elaborarse con tres ingredientes: cebada, l\u00fapulo y agua.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pro Carton lleva tiempo defendiendo que los propietarios de las marcas deben utilizar un material sostenible en lugar de uno no sostenible siempre que puedan, y acoge con satisfacci\u00f3n las fuertes medidas para fomentar el uso de materiales de envasado verdaderamente sostenibles. La Uni\u00f3n Europea est\u00e1 a punto de publicar su estrategia sobre los pl\u00e1sticos, mientras que el Gobierno del Reino Unido ha anunciado que est\u00e1 considerando la posibilidad de aplicar un impuesto a algunos envases de pl\u00e1stico. Un r\u00e1pido vistazo al pasillo de un supermercado pone de manifiesto la gran cantidad de marcas que utilizan envases de pl\u00e1stico cuando podr\u00edan utilizar cartones. Desde las bolsas de t\u00e9 y las pilas, hasta las bebidas en envases m\u00faltiples y los art\u00edculos de papeler\u00eda, por no hablar de los productos alimenticios, hay una gran cantidad de productos que podr\u00edan envasarse en un embalaje m\u00e1s ecol\u00f3gico y reducir o eliminar la cantidad de pl\u00e1stico utilizada.<\/p>\n<p>Es alentador que nuestro mensaje empiece a recibir claramente el apoyo de otras partes influyentes. Andy Clarke, antiguo director general de Asda, reclam\u00f3 recientemente en el peri\u00f3dico The Guardian la adopci\u00f3n de medidas contundentes, afirmando que \"la \u00fanica soluci\u00f3n es que los minoristas rechacen por completo el pl\u00e1stico en favor de alternativas m\u00e1s sostenibles como el papel, el acero, el vidrio y el aluminio\". Del mismo modo, Louise Edge, de Greenpeace, afirm\u00f3 que el Gobierno podr\u00eda \"innovar para salir de este l\u00edo incentivando alternativas sostenibles al pl\u00e1stico\".<\/p>\n<p>Quiz\u00e1s valga la pena recordar a todos, especialmente a los que no pertenecen a la industria del cart\u00f3n, que el aligeramiento o incluso el reciclaje, por s\u00ed mismos, no logran la sostenibilidad. Para que el envase sea sostenible (por favor, compruebe la definici\u00f3n del diccionario) debe ser renovable. El pl\u00e1stico sostenible es, sencillamente, una tonter\u00eda.
