Pro Carton ist an einer Vielzahl von Projekten beteiligt, aber nicht viele davon sind gr\u00f6\u00dfer und wirkungsvoller als die Kreation eines 1,5 Meter hohen W\u00f6rterbuchs, um f\u00fcr das Wort Karton zu werben, das \u00fcberraschenderweise noch nicht im Oxford English Dictionary, dem ultimativen Lexikon der englischen Sprache, enthalten ist. In Zusammenarbeit mit Graphic Packaging und unter Verwendung des von Stora Enso gelieferten Materials wurde ein einzigartiges W\u00f6rterbuch geschaffen, das vollst\u00e4ndig aus Karton besteht. Insgesamt wurden 65 CKB-Kartonb\u00f6gen (Coated Kraft Back) mit einer St\u00e4rke von 350 g\/m2 und 600 Mikron im Format 800 mm x 1200 mm verwendet!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hier ist die Geschichte, wie GPI es geschafft hat:<\/p>\n

In der ersten Phase des Prozesses wurden zwei Bl\u00e4tter zusammengef\u00fcgt, um die Vorder-, R\u00fcck- und Mittelseiten zu erstellen, gefolgt von einer \"wabenartigen\" Struktur, die hinter den \u00e4u\u00dferen Seiten angebracht wurde, um sie zu st\u00fctzen. Diese Struktur bestand aus 26 schachbrettartig angeordneten Standardschachteln, 13 auf jeder Seite.<\/p>\n

Die tragende Struktur wurde dann zwischen den unbedruckten Vorder- und R\u00fcckseiten eingef\u00fcgt.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Das unvollendete W\u00f6rterbuch steht dank der tragenden \"wabenartigen\" Struktur aufrecht.<\/em><\/p>\n

Der n\u00e4chste Schritt bestand darin, den bedruckten \"Buch\"-Rand auf allen Seiten des W\u00f6rterbuchs anzubringen, um die inneren St\u00fctzen abzudecken.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Kartonplatten, die so angebracht werden, dass die tragende Struktur nicht freigelegt wird.<\/em><\/p>\n

Insgesamt wurden drei Arbeitsscharniere in das W\u00f6rterbuch eingebaut. Das erste wurde an den inneren Mittelseiten angebracht, das zweite an den Au\u00dfenseiten der beiden halben Buchr\u00fccken und das dritte Scharnier an dem gebogenen \u00e4u\u00dferen Buchr\u00fccken mit Kunstwerk.<\/p>\n

Jede Seite bestand aus zwei zusammengef\u00fcgten Bl\u00e4ttern, so dass zus\u00e4tzliche Vorkehrungen getroffen wurden, um sicherzustellen, dass sich keine wichtigen Elemente wie Text auf den Verbindungsstellen befinden. Au\u00dferdem wurden die Seiten und der Einband mit grafischen Rillen und Texturen versehen, um das W\u00f6rterbuch zum Leben zu erwecken.
\nDie endg\u00fcltigen gedruckten Vollseiten f\u00fcr die Vorder- und R\u00fcckseite wurden hinzugef\u00fcgt, hatten aber eine \u00dcberlappung von 25 mm, um den etwas gr\u00f6\u00dferen Einband zu simulieren, den man bei B\u00fcchern mit festem Einband findet.<\/p>\n

Die Scharniere und das bedruckte \u00c4u\u00dfere wurden hinzugef\u00fcgt.<\/em><\/p>\n

Dann wurden die endg\u00fcltigen gedruckten Mittelseiten hinzugef\u00fcgt, einschlie\u00dflich einer Definition des Wortes \"Karton\".<\/p>\n

Das fertige W\u00f6rterbuch mit gedruckten Innen- und Au\u00dfenseiten.<\/em><\/p>\n

F\u00fcr den sicheren und einfachen Transport des W\u00f6rterbuchs wurde eine stabile, wiederverwendbare Transportkiste mit R\u00e4dern angefertigt. Die Holzkiste war \u00fcber 1,5 m hoch und wog etwa 60 kg!<\/p>\n

Der h\u00f6lzerne Transportbeh\u00e4lter sorgte daf\u00fcr, dass das W\u00f6rterbuch w\u00e4hrend des Transports nicht besch\u00e4digt wurde.
