W\u00e4lder bieten Arbeitspl\u00e4tze, Einkommen und Rohstoffe f\u00fcr die Industrie und erneuerbare Energien.<\/li>\n<li>W\u00e4lder bedecken einige <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/web\/products-eurostat-news\/-\/edn-20210321-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">159 Millionen Hektar in Europa oder fast 40% der europ\u00e4ischen Landfl\u00e4che<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Die europ\u00e4ischen W\u00e4lder, die von der Papier- und Kartonindustrie genutzt werden, sind nachhaltig. Die EU-Forststrategie f\u00fcr 2030 ist Teil des Fit-for-55-Pakets, das die Europ\u00e4ische Kommission im Jahr 2021 vorlegt.  Unter dem Dach der Confederation of European Paper Industries (Cepi) unterst\u00fctzt die gesamte Zellstoff- und Papierindustrie, einschlie\u00dflich der Unternehmen, die W\u00e4lder besitzen und bewirtschaften, die EU-Forststrategie. Diese umfassen \u00f6kologische, wirtschaftliche und soziale Aspekte.  Die europ\u00e4ischen W\u00e4lder, die von der Papier- und Kartonindustrie genutzt werden, sind nachhaltig, was bedeutet, dass jedes Jahr mehr B\u00e4ume gepflanzt als geerntet werden.<\/p>\n<p>Die europ\u00e4ische Forstwirtschaft hat die Grunds\u00e4tze der nachhaltigen Entwicklung akzeptiert und praktiziert eine nachhaltige Waldbewirtschaftung. Junge B\u00e4ume absorbieren mehr sch\u00e4dliches CO<sup>2<\/sup> als \u00e4ltere B\u00e4ume.  Wenn B\u00e4ume auf diese Weise geerntet werden, wird nichts verschwendet. Der Rest wird aus Altpapier und -karton (Recyclingkarton) hergestellt, aber auch dieses Material ist auf die Vermischung mit Holzfasern angewiesen.  Die europ\u00e4ischen Papier- und Kartonfabriken werden haupts\u00e4chlich mit lokalen Rohstoffen versorgt.  Das Holz stammt haupts\u00e4chlich aus W\u00e4ldern in Schweden, Finnland, Deutschland, Frankreich und \u00d6sterreich.  Die europ\u00e4ischen W\u00e4lder, die von der Papier- und Kartonindustrie genutzt werden, sind nachhaltig, da der j\u00e4hrliche Zuwachs an neuem Holz die geerntete Menge bei weitem \u00fcbersteigt.<\/p>\n<p>Die Papier- und Kartonindustrie verwendet Durchforstungsholz und nur einen Teil des ausgewachsenen Baumes: die Wipfel gro\u00dfer B\u00e4ume mit geringem Durchmesser und S\u00e4gewerksabf\u00e4lle. Nur wenn die gesamte Lieferkette zertifiziert ist, k\u00f6nnen die Endprodukte mit einem Etikett und einer entsprechenden Angabe auf den Begleitpapieren verkauft werden.<\/p>\n<p>Bei forstwirtschaftlichen Produkten wie Faltschachteln bedeutet die Zertifizierung der Produktkette, dass \u00fcberpr\u00fcft wird, ob das auf jeder Stufe des Produktionsprozesses verwendete Holz aus einem als nachhaltig bewirtschaftet zertifizierten Wald stammt.
