This is a use for cartonboard that the jury had not seen before. The simple one piece construction and the easy way it can be constructed convinced that that this was a very good design. It can easily be hooked onto a car window and then a cup or bottle can to pit in it. It could easily be printed and branded and whilst many cars have built in cup holders, this new design would be ideal for passengers in the back seat of cars. It could easily be adapted to take different sizes of bottles or cups and would, the Jury felt, have very many applications.

The jury were very impressed with this design that helped solve a difficult problem – how to get a plaster quickly, effectively and hygienically. Simply by  pushing a thumb along the top of the carton, a single plaster comes out every time without fail. This means no more searching in a handbag or pocket for a loose plaster. This design could easily be adapted for other sizes and is simple to use and easy to carry about. An ideal solution to an annoying problem.

This is a really attractive carton that will appeal to children and as well as protecting and displaying the product well, also can be used after as a crown for a little girl. Simply by tearing off the bottom section, the carton becomes a crown. The hexagonal shape is attractive, and the design can be adapted easily to be used for many different types of product.

The innovative shape of this design is a real eye catcher. The curves would, the jury felt sure, prove very attractive at the point of sale and would help the product stand out on the shelf. This is a vital attribute in a very competitive market sector where so many products and varieties seek the attention of the consumer so making appeal of the packaging at the point of sale so vital.

When using packaging it has be shown that may emotional triggers apply. On that is see and used less frequently is sound, and the design and construction of this entry showed clearly what appeal and attraction sound can have. As the carton is opened it clicks several times so adding to the appeal of the carton. It also clicks when the carton is closed so increasing its appeal.

This design was felt to be adaptable for a huge range of goods. Simply by putting two pieces of cartonboard together and pulling them up, a container is easily produced. This could be used for sweets, chocolates and a whole range of other products and can easily be used at the point of sale. Also these sheets can be made in a variety of different sizes and colours and designs so that the packaging can effectively be selected by the consumer when buying a product.
