Creativity wherever you look: Award ceremony of the 16. Pro Carton/ECMA Award

The annual Pro Carton/ECMA Award is one of the most distinguished awards in its category, and is now in its 16th year. The award honours packaging which has proven itself on the market. For the first time, the competition was open to all partners of the supply chain: cartonboard and carton manufacturers, designers, brand owners and the retail trade. The awards were presented on 20. September 2012 at the ECMA Congress in Copenhagen. The Carton of the Year award went to the champagne packaging Taittinger Rose Lens by Van Genechten.

The route to the future

"Mapping out the route to the future" was the motto when the cartonboard and carton industry met at the ECMA Congress from 19 to 22 September in Copenhagen. The wide range of topics covered a look into the future of society and business in Europe, current examples for sustainability, as well as the "Good Manufacturing Practice Guide“. ECMA President Dr. Andreas Blaschke and Roland Rex, President of Pro Carton, presented the 16. Pro Carton/ECMA Awards.

Shoppers: the next generation

The three main topics were collaboration in the supply chain, the digital age and sustainable growth. Young and vibrant: Pro Carton Design Awards 2012

The relaunch of the International Pro Carton Design Award after a break of four years proved highly successful. Nearly 70 entries from eight European countries showed significantly higher professionalism and fantastic, well-thought out concepts. The winners were two customer-oriented projects: "Pocket Aid", an innovative packaging for plasters, and "Cupholder" for use in cars.

Pro Carton at the ECMA-Congress 2011

Once again Pro Carton had a significant presence at the ECMA Congress held this year in Barcelona between 14th and 17th September. This congress which brings together a large number of carton makers, cartonboard manufacturers and suppliers to the industry is one of the main events in the carton calendar and Pro Carton took the opportunity to update all those present with its activities, publications and details of upcoming events.

Young Design for a Sustainable Future

For the second time now, the Pro Carton/PPV AUSTRIA Design Award of the Austrian carton industry was presented as part of the Printissimo/Emballissimo gala event. As yet non-realised ideas by promising design students from Austrian design schools were shown under the motto “Young Design Stars“. The significant increase in entries has undoubtedly confirmed that the award has established its place in the world of design. The awards in the two categories went to Christian Lang (packaging) and Flora Hauser (other applications).

New era in the consumer goods industry

The ECR Congress (Efficient Consumer Response) in early April 2011 in Brussels heralded fundamental changes in the markets: resources are becoming scarcer, consumers will be making higher demands, and communications will become more complex. Pro Carton attended for the third time as partner with their own stand and provided the over 700 attendants with the official congress case – a special design made of cartonboard, of course.
